I’m Hans Albanese, freelance writer and former teacher. I’ve taught, written, and traveled all over the world, and spent more than half of my life overseas. Hopefully, I’ve learned a few things in the process.

Here are some little-known facts about me:

1. I lived in Japan for over twenty years, where I accidentally developed an extensive and intensive knowledge of Japanese culture. This, as well as the ability to speak, read, and write Japanese are both the result of being very annoyed at not being able to communicate smoothly.

2. I love dogs.

3. My history knowledge would surprise you. I know more random facts about the past many most people know about the present.

4. As you’ve probably guessed, I am very passionate about education and learning.

5. I enjoy freelance business writing and grant writing, and in my tiny bit of spare time, I write memoirs and short stories. Some of my favorite books are science fiction and fantasy.

6. Hiking, camping, canoeing–I love being outdoors.

(Bonus fact, since you’ve gotten this far.)

Yes, I am an American!

On seeing my name some people ask me about it, but I was born and raised in America and lived here until I finished high school. My name shows my German, Italian, and English-Scottish background, from forefathers (and mothers) who emigrated to America as far back as the Mayflower and as recently as the 1930s. This is as American as it gets, folks.

Thanks for reading!
